Worth Knowing

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Do not put your loved ones here. While the leasing coordinator and a few staff members are nice, that is where the positives end. This facility is poorly managed, unhygienic, unreliable, and financially reckless—especially dangerous for elderly residents on fixed incomes. The food is awful, and the hallways regularly smell like cat urine. That alone should be unacceptable in a senior living community. Transportation is a complete failure. The bus that is supposed to take residents to medical appointments was routinely unavailable for that purpose. My mother had to cancel multiple doctor appointments because the driver prioritized shopping trips and social excursions over medically necessary care. She was explicitly told by the driver that she needed to schedule her healthcare around when he was taking “the ladies” out. That is not just poor service—it’s neglect. Even basic amenities like laundry were mismanaged. Sign-up sheets existed but were meaningless. Other residents regularly used the machines during my mother’s scheduled times, and staff did nothing to enforce the system. After just three months, my mother chose to leave. She fulfilled the required minimum stay, provided proper notice, and was told clearly that she owed nothing further. I advised her to get this in writing. She asked the office multiple times and was repeatedly told—despite emphasizing she is on a fixed income—that documentation was unnecessary and everything was “all set.” That was a lie. After she moved into her new apartment, this facility illegally withdrew rent from her bank account for a unit she no longer lived in. This overdrew her account, took her grocery money, and prevented her from paying first month’s rent at her new home. When I called to address this, I was told it was an “error” and would take 5–7 days to fix—completely unacceptable when dealing with someone’s livelihood. I never received a call back from the facility to try and resolve this matter after I was told I would be. Her bank ultimately had to intervene and reverse the charge because the facility would not act quickly. Two months later, my mother received a bill from this community demanding payment for the returned charge—a charge they never had the right to take in the first place and was their own fault. When I called today, I was told they would “see if they could waive the fee.” A fee created entirely by their own unauthorized withdrawal. They stole money and then are attempting to penalize the harmed party for stopping their theft. Beyond reprehensible. This place demonstrated gross incompetence, lack of accountability, and a complete disregard for the financial and medical well-being of its residents. The fact that they continue to bill an elderly woman for their own mistake is appalling. Do not trust this facility with your loved ones. There are safer, cleaner, and more ethical options elsewhere. Update: I was promised a call back by the end of the day yesterday about the removal of the charge. Of course, I have not received a call back. As expected.
